About SFAfA

San Francisco Aid for Animals was founded in 2011 by four San Francisco veterinarians who became alarmed by the number of pets being euthanized or surrendered because many owners could not afford to pay for their pet’s veterinary care.

In response to this need, we began raising money through donations and in 2012 began providing grants to San Francisco area veterinarians to help pet guardians pay for their pet’s urgent, treatable medical conditions.

Last year, we helped animals with a wide variety of concerns.
